Why I’m Running

  • From Disruption to Development - Moving forward together

In a rapidly changing world, stability and community support is important for students to thrive.

    • Champion partnerships with local environmental organizations to provide the benefits that being in nature contributes to students and staff including boosting self-confidence and reducing anxiety

    • Build on novel education outreach initiatives I’ve championed (ex. YourTV’s Conservation Kids and Watershed Wanderers podcast) to equip students with unique community learning and leadership opportunities.

  • Open and Transparent Communication - Accessibility for All

Effective, inclusive, and open communication between trustees and the school community is critical.

    • Utilize new media to communicate with students, staff, and parents through channels that work best for them (e-newsletters, social media, podcast)

    • Mentorship opportunities for student trustees

    • Trustee Talks (town hall style school visits)

  • Safe Student Experiences - Protecting Our Future

Schools should be a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for everyone.

    • Ensure students are physically and emotionally safe before, after, and during school, through anti-bullying and anti-violence initiatives and community safe streets leadership

    • Follow the soundest public health guidance to keep our students and staff safe, healthy, and in the classroom

  • Professionalism and Integrity - A Builder, Not a Breaker

The school community best served when a culture of respect and integrity is fostered by our trustees.

    • In this heated time, I am an individual that can disagree without being disagreeable - I've been in a customer-facing role at a Conservation Authority for many years, and have always upheld the dignity of the organization even during very tense exchanges

    • I will find compromises that best serve and reflect the students, parents, staff, school board and taxpayers

    • A trustee that will raise the profile of the school board with their conduct, rather than diminish it.

  • Participatory Precincts - Improving Voter Turnout

Our School Board will best reflect the diverse community that it serves if we all practice civic engagement

    • I will share any important voting information on my social media channels to assist residents in participating in our municipal election

    • I am running a hopeful and positive campaign to boost excitement - I want you to want to vote!
